Hi Everyone!
Adventures in Raoolia is now in its 4th week of revisions, and I have reached the half way point within the novel, Chapter 17: Ambush! In Chapter 17, Master RRandoll launches a simultaneous assault on all the villages on Sphynxia, which were overlooked until now. He also tires of the slow pace in which is warriors are building the bridge across the Straits of Raoolia out of the ruins of Castles Shven-Shong and Ringlue.
Master RRandoll does something that cannot even be fathomed in our world. He lifts the Raoolian continental plate and overlaps it onto the Sphynxian continental plate, then raises the seafloor below the Straits of Raoolia to connect the two continents into one land mass. This event causes a massive tsunami that makes the Indonesian tsunami look like a ripple. It moves over 7 billion gallons of water measuing 7,120 feet high into the vast Sybeerian Ocean, causing a tidal wave of such incomprehendible proportions, prompting me to study the science involved with such an event.
Such science and math for a cataclysmic event such as this is very hard to come by, and had occupied several days of research. While I am still gathering all the pieces to calculate the size of the waves that ripple out from the new supercontinent, I have made some progress. First, I learned that tsunamis cause giant ripples in the ocean. When I originally wrote the scene, the tsunami moved basically in a single direction. But real water doesn't behave in such a manner, it ripples outward in a circular shape, thus affecting all neighboring land masses, not just those directly opposite to them.
I've learned some other tidbits about tsunamis, but, well, I won't spoil it for you die-hard fans. Time to get back to work. I hope you all had a nice weekend. Have a good week.
