P*JET * IMAGES attended an arts and crafts show at the Flint Farmer’s Market called Art in the Market. The following is a review of the show that occurred on Saturday, July 11, 2009 in the Citizen’s Bank parking lot, north of U of M Flint, behind the Flint Farmer’s Market, 420 E. Boulevard Drive, Flint, Michigan 48503.

The day began unexpectedly – lightening and torrential rain, which was several hours later than the weather forecast. We arrived just after 7am and managed to get our canopy up before the rain hit. My wife and I took turns relieving the canopy of the water that pooled on the ceiling as we waited for an hour and half for the storm to pass.

About 8:30, the rain let up, and we began unpacking our small, compact car. Our display was nearly completed when I realized that we had forgotten the camera! I rushed home to get it and by the time I had returned, my wife had assembled the display as the picture shows at the right.

The day progressed, churning out comfortable temperatures and, by 12:30/1:00, an unobstructed view of a fantastic blue sky, dotted here and there with clouds. The lot was not particularly crowded, but several people stopped to take a gander at our display. Three of these visitors just happened to be people that we are acquainted with: (Aunt) Linda, (former cousin) Jane, and (former co-worker) Holly.

The sound of music was in the air, courtesy of the blues band The Whisky Brothers, playing well known hits by Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Jimi Hendrix along with their special guest Jones’n.

Finally, at last call, (3:30 pm), I went around to take note of all the vendors that had appeared for the show.

When the clock struck 4, all the vendors departed, some taking away profits, others disappointment, and still others, seeds for better days.
