Well, its almost over. With just a few days left of 2009, we have had a chance to look back over the past year at where we started, where we journeyed, and where we landed. Although 2009 was on the upside of the worst recession in U.S. history since the Great Depression, we consider this year an overwhelming success.
We started purchasing equipment at the beginning of February and scouted two craft shows to see what they were like. One was at Saginaw Valley State University, and the other was the Shipshewana on the Road at the Birch Run Expo Center. After seeing hundreds of vendors and realizing the numbers of people, we came to the conclusion that this was for us.
Our first craft show was in April, at Waterford Mott High School in Waterford, Michigan. We sold two children's poetry books. We then went onto Midland Mall, where we sold absolutely nothing over the three days.
In June, we regrouped and found that the Flint Farmer's Market held shows in the Citizen's Bank parking lot, so we did four shows there in July and August.
September was the beginning of our success, where we went to Frankenmuth Michigan and sold 15 children's poetry books, 6 copies of Adventures in Raoolia, 4 calendars, and 2 packs of notecards.
October saw P*JET at Diehl's Cider Mill in Holly, where we experienced the cold air of Michigan, yet survived! We sold 7 children's poetry books and 3 copies of Adventures in Raoolia.
In November, we had 2 craft shows, one at the Linden Presbyterian Church and the other at Owosso High school. November's sales were 14 children's poetry books, 5 copies of Adventures in Raoolia, and 1 calendar.
Finally, December was our final craft show, which was held at Circus Park Hall in Clio. Over the two days, we sold 17 children's poetry books, 4 copies of Adventures in Raoolia, and a calendar.
