Zampdom and Yelilah, the first male/female pair of Adventures in Raoolia appear in the second book of Adventures in Raoolia – The Journey to Shven-Shong. They are residents of BellBour Village, which is rural settlement along the Raoolen River. They are mature Carcalians, meaning they are at the permanent heights of 5’10” (Zampdom) and 5’6” (Yelilah). Their duty to BellBour Village is to travel back and forth to Shalou City, to trade goods that are inaccessible to BellBour, such as the valuable metal Cougrinium. The blacksmith, named Schaintz, introduced by the conversation between the two traders, needs this metal to make bits and harnesses for their shaklows, which pull their wares from place to place.
Zampdom and Yelilah are important to the beginning of Adventures in Raoolia, because they are the first to hear of the evil plans that Denzcan sets into motion. Just before the two traders appear in the story, Denzcan had just burned BellBour Village and taken all of the residents hostage. The couple overhears him stating that the BellBourians are his possessions, to do with whatever he wishes.
Zampdom and Yelilah realize that there is nothing that they can do to stop Denzcan from whatever evil he is planning. They decide to fly to the military capital of Raoolia, run by the Tigrens of the Shven-Shong Clan, to enlist the Shven-Shong’s help to deal with this conflict. A great battle occurs between the Tigrens and the newly created Minotaur Warriors, created by the new character, Master RRandoll. The Tigrens are defeated, and retreat, and Zampdom and Yelilah are slain.
Adventures in Raoolia introduces these characters, to begin a pattern which enlarges and repeats throughout The Epic of Cougran. They are the first to discover the deeds of a wicked character, and flee to find a greater power to stop the evil character. Unfortunately, the evil becomes more rooted in his deeds, and the good characters are stopped or forced to retreat.
After Zampdom and Yelilah, another pair is introduced, Master Hann and Bengal, who have knowledge about the occurrences on Raoolia, successfully flee the continent, on a mission to alert the superpower of Cougran, the Clushpow. The theme grows beyond even these two characters, even stretching into the sequel, called Adventures Beyond New Raoolia, which, as of writing this article, is still being developed. The purpose of this theme is to give hope those who wish to read the story, even though there are horrific things happening to the people of Cougran, a small group, or an individual will continue to oppose the evil Master RRandoll in is blood-thirsty conquest of Cougran.
